Shola has garnered experience in diverse areas of Shipping. He focuses on Ship registration and finance, Marine Insurance, Carriage of goods, International Trade & Investments, Marine Pollution, Cargo Claims, Nigerian local content requirements and compliance, structuring and setting up of Nigerian shipping companies for cabotage or international carriage, Litigation and Debt recovery.
He was part of the Lagos team that compiled and drafted the Final Report for the Presidential Committee on Maritime Sector Reform in 2012. He has acted as counsel to several Nigerian and foreign shipping companies.
Shola is a quintessential legal practitioner who combines deep knowledge of the law with considerable experience in commercial litigation and arbitration. He is an adept researcher and has written several published works on maritime law and public interest matters.
Shola was best graduating Diploma in Law student of the Enugu State University in 2001. He won the prestigious Richard Akinjide SAN best prize for constitutional law and was a scholar at the same university where he obtained an LLB in 2006. He was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 2008. He also obtained an LLM at the Obafemi Awolowo University in 2013 with concentration in International Trade and Investment Law.
He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria (MAAN), Maritime Committee of the Section on Business Law (SBL-NBA), Nigerian Maritime Law Association (NMLA), Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) and Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Nigeria.
