The Minister of State for Power, Mr Godwin Jedy-Agba has said that the 40 megawatts Hydro Power Plant from Kashimbila dam in Taraba State will be ready for opening by December 2019 and will contribute to power generation in the country.
Speaking at a Presidential dinner of the alumni of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Jos, Plateau State Jedy-Agba said, “We will appreciate your contributions towards developing strategic and meaningful policies for us in the power sub-sector of our economy. There is no gainsaying that power translates to every aspect of our life. The government will appreciate your contributions towards moving the power sector forward….by the time we inaugurate these two projects, I assure you that it the power situation in Nigeria will improve.”
The Kashimbilla Hydropower Plant is about 245km from the Yandev substation. The 132kv Yandev substation is the point where the power generated from Kashimbilla will eventually be evacuated to the national grid. The plant is expected to generate 40MW which would be stepped up by two transformers from 6.6kv to 132kv.
